FWD.us is seeking to secure a contract with a talented Graphic Design Contractor who has a passion for immigration and criminal justice reform. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in impactful advocacy work through graphic design.

FWD.us is a bipartisan political organization that believes America’s families, communities, and economy thrive when more individuals are able to achieve their full potential. For too long, our broken immigration and criminal justice systems have locked too many people out of the American dream. Founded by leaders in the technology and business communities, we seek to grow and galvanize political support to break through partisan gridlock and achieve meaningful reforms.

 

PARAMETERS

  • Dedicated, on-demand design support for up to 40 hours per week. Some projects will be rush (needing immediate attention) and some projects will be required outside of normal business hours and/or over the weekend. (Designer should expect roughly 10 hours a week to be outside of the standard Pacific office hours.) 
  • Designer is expected to promptly respond to requests, including during non-standard office hours, and communicate any concerns or needs in a timely fashion.
  • Whenever possible, the Client will share requests during the standard Pacific office hours.
  • FWD.us will pay the Design Contractor a predetermined monthly rate based on a temporary contract agreement.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Passion and commitment to immigration and criminal justice reforms.
  • Understanding of design fundamentals, grid systems, typography, and other design principles.
  • Experience with creating and formatting data and dynamic designs into visually appealing layouts and multimedia products.
  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of the importance of adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills
  • An eye for detail and the ability to follow directions and execute on feedback.
  • Creative and persistent “can-do” attitude
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Sketch
  • Those impacted by our failed immigration and/or criminal justice systems are encouraged to apply.

THESE SKILLS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with animation/motion graphics
  • Knowledge of User Experience design

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and execute digital materials, emails, landing pages, digital ads, social graphics, infographics, Google Slide presentations, and other digital engagement materials
  • Design and create print assets such as, but not limited to: reports, flyers, white papers, brochures
  • Participate in ideation, concept development, and research
  • Basic photography color correction, processing, & post-production 
  • Assist the creative team in miscellaneous production tasks (sourcing imagery and footage, image resizing, presentation design)
  • Create strong, innovative designs, while adhering to brand guidelines and incorporating best-in-class design principles
  • Work efficiently, meeting deadlines and deliverables
  • Be curious!

TIMELINE:

The Designer/Contractor will begin ASAP for a one month term. Extension possible after initial agreement is fulfilled. 

As an Independent Contractor Graphic Designer, you will not be an employee of Fwd.us. Rather they will function as a vendor, providing graphic design services on an IRS Form 1099 basis.
