    Transnational Villages Network/Red de Pueblos Trasnacionales seeks a bilingual (English and Spanish) Deputy Director of Social Services as part of a new expansion to increase access to public benefits for low-income people across NYC.

    Overview

    Transnational Villages Network/Red de Pueblos Trasnacionales, Inc., is an immigrant-led and immigrant powered 501(c)3 organization founded in 2019 in the Bronx with the mission of advancing full inclusion and access to rights for the over 500,000 indigenous immigrants living in NYC. La Red fulfills its mission through transnational organizing, language justice, grassroots advocacy, popular education, and cultural events.

    La Red de Pueblos runs its programming and events using culturally competent services and organizing models from indigenous communities of origin that empower the indigenous immigrant community to fight injustice and overcome the challenges of living in New York City as a new immigrant.

    Our activities include an annual School for Life, Health and Justice, an annual family reunification event, a city-wide cultural festival, an indigenous interpreters collective, a media project and several cultural events. La Red recently expanded its services under the NYCBenefits Project to provide case management and public benefits access to participants.

    Job Summary

    Red de Pueblos seeks an organized and initiative driven Deputy Director of Social Services to lead its NYCBenefits Project. The Deputy Director will be responsible for assisting in the expansion of social services offered at Red de Pueblos, managing the NYCBenefits grant and supervising a full-time case manager. The deputy director will maintain a small case-load assisting immigrant community members in navigating and applying for public benefits, and developing culturally appropriate outreach materials. The Deputy Director will work to address the holistic needs of undocumented, indigenous community members through case management, mental health counseling, referrals and systems navigation, safety planning, and more. This is a unique position that will also allow for community engagement/organizing, coalition building, training, and social media outreach. This is a full-time position that will require occasional availability for weekday evenings and weekends. This will be a hybrid position, in person (at our office in the South Bronx) and remote. The Deputy Director will also receive contracted, clinical supervision.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Executive Director & Board in implementing & expanding social services, program development and public benefits access for RDP participants
    • Supervise one case worker and graduate level social work interns
    • Participate in NYCBenefits related events, trainings, coalition building, etc.
    • Lead a high-quality, targeted, and strategic plan to enroll eligible indigenous and immigrant New Yorkers in public benefits. This could include new enrollment, benefits renewals, and holistic case management to overcome barriers to access
    • Develop creative & culturally appropriate benefits outreach materials, social media postings and trainings for indigenous community members in different indigenous languages. This position will collaborate closely with the Indigenous Interpreters Collective, El Colibri.
    • Provide holistic case management, advocacy, referrals, safety planning, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, letters of support and short term counseling to a small caseload of individuals and families
    • Maintain timely and accurate case records on Salesforce
    • Manage and submit all NYCBenefits related grant reports

    Qualifications

    • Master of Social Work degree, LMSW or LCSW required
      • At least four years postgraduate experience required, supervisory experience preferred
    • SIFI eligibility required, certification preferred
    • Fluency in Spanish required: oral, written and comfort giving trainings
    • Program development or experience working
    • Strong self-direction skills and the ability to work independently are required
    • Grant management/development preferred
    • Experience assisting low-income New Yorkers, particularly non-citizens and PRUCOL eligible individuals with public benefits eligibility and enrollment
    • Experience working with undocumented communities who have experienced trauma, particularly domestic violence/IPV required
    • Experience providing short-term counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and safety planning is required
    • Deep knowledge on issues relating to immigration, indigenous communities, community organizing or related fields, strongly preferred.
    • A team player with the ability to work with diverse populations and socio-economic groups.
    • Familiarity with New York City & State institutions and social service systems is preferred.

    Physical Demands

    Physical demands include regular attendance; keyboarding; sitting for long periods (at least 5 hours a day); using public transportation in site location and surrounding areas. Ability to use computer, telephone, and copy machine.

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range (or hourly) for this position is $80,000. Transnational Villages Network considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the NYC Benefits grant when extending an offer.
