Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries

The Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries will be a faith-filled person who works with the Senior Pastor and the Christian Education Committee as we work to deepen our faith through inter-generational dialogue, worship, experience, and study.  We seek a person who loves children and families, has a deep faith is a self-starter and is comfortable seeking out resources. We are a historic church that is part of the United Church of Christ. We are committed to growing as disciples of Christ, making a difference in the world, cultivating interfaith and intergenerational relationships, and extending an extravagant welcome.

Responsibilities include:

* Coordinate the Christian Formation ministry of the church by

1.     Select, adapt and implement Christian Formation and VBC curriculum resources and

materials so that they are consistent with our ministry and mission.

2. Recruit, train, and support Christian Formation and VBC teachers. (volunteers)

3. Acquire and organize necessary supplies for Children’s Ministry and VBC.

·      Be present on Sunday mornings for worship and other activities. Attend other church events as available to support the Christian Formation ministries.

·      Work with Christian Education Committee and Senior Pastor to develop 4 intergenerational events throughout the year.

·      Attend Monthly Christian Education Committee meetings and regular meetings with the Youth Council.

·      Attend weekly staff meetings. Meet with the minister regularly.

·      Offer a Children’s Message twice a month: more often will be by agreement between you, the Senior Pastor and the Christian Education Committee

·      Work with the Senior Pastor to identify and provide for the pastoral care and spiritual nurture needs of the families of the church.

·      Work with the Youth Council to create and implement ministry and programs for middle school and high school youth

·      Work with Senior Pastor to lead confirmation

·      Lead and/or coordinate Safe Church trainings

This is a 20 hour/week position.
