Program Description: ABC is seeking an experienced therapist to provide various levels of services to a high school through the NYC DOE & Office of School Health School-Based Mental Health Program. The components of the Mental Health Program includes the following types of services: (1) universal interventions for the school community to raise students, staff or families' mental health awareness, encourage help-seeking for mental health concerns and promote positive behaviors (such as a social-emotional learning curriculum or school-wide anti stigma campaign); (2) selective interventions that aim to detect mental health needs and intervene early with students who are at risk of mental health problems (such as broad-based screening to identify children in need of further assessment or trainings for teachers to identify and respond to students in psychological distress); (3) targeted mental health services and interventions that are provided to students with specific mental health difficulties/conditions to lessen the impact of the condition and improve functioning (including mental health treatment using evidence-based models).

Key Responsibilities & Skills:

·        Provide tiered mental health interventions to the school community which include mental health consultations and trainings to the faculty; individual and group therapy sessions; family workshops and trainings; case advocacy and management; and crisis intervention.

·        Develop systems to track and share information with all stakeholders including the families, school, the School Partner, and NYC DOE and NYC DHMH. 

·        Work independently within a host setting and engage all stakeholders within the school setting to participate in mental health services.

·        Candidate will also have experience delivering trauma-informed care and building trauma-informed systems of care; relevant school-based work in low-income communities; and in program development. Mental Health Licensure (eg LMSW, LCAT, LMFT, and LMHC) is required.
