Position Description

The Congressional Progressive Caucus Center seeks a Program Assistant to assist with operations and administration across the program team, assisting with the Educational Fellowship program, and supporting organizational events.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Assistant may have any of the following duties and responsibilities:

Organizing and Relationship Building

  • Support Organizing Director by coordinating guests and partner outreach for bi-weekly Movement Table calls
  • Assist Organizing and other Program Directors in developing and maintaining relationships with key movement and policy partners, supporting Program Directors in identifying opportunities for collaboration and areas of shared interest and tracking efforts of movement partners on assigned policy issues

Educational Fellowship

  • Assist with the Educational Fellowship application and selection process
  • Assist with outreach, logistics, and programming activities for program alumni

Events

  • Provide logistical support to Program Directors in organizing meetings with policy, research, and movement partners
  • Assist Program Directors with major events including the annual conference, program launches, trainings, workshops and convenings

Administrative

  • Coordinate, attend, and assist with keeping notes for internal and external work of Program Directors with key stakeholders
  • Assist Organizing Director by managing and maintaining programs database using Airtable software
  • Assist Program Directors with project management of projects involving multiple CPC Center program teams, tracking deadlines and deliverables
  • Assist with logistical support for professional development training
  • Provide logistical support for team building activities and events for staff
  • Assist with calendaring and logistics for cross-cutting team meetings and events, including meetings with both internal and external partners.
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Relationships

This position will report to the Organizing Director and provide project-based logistical support to the Program Directors, including the Policy Director, Communications Director, Legislative Affairs Director, and Grassroots Advocacy Director, for cross-cutting Program Team projects. The position will also work closely with the associates on the Program Team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or at least 2 years of experience in a public service environment
  • Passion for the mission of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center and social movements for justice, equity, and fairness
  • Broad familiarity with the policy priorities of the CPC Center and the ability to quickly learn new policy issues
  • Commitment to centering anti-racism and equity in work
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle projects of various sizes and perform well under pressure in a small organization with a fast-paced, multitasking environment
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and adapt to changing situations
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills
  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Responsiveness to feedback
  • Willingness to pitch in where needed
  • Demonstrated flexibility and openness in responding to changing work priorities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Slack, Everyaction and Airtable

Salary

$50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience.

The Program Assistant will also receive excellent benefits including generous vacation, paid holidays, 401(k) match, and paid health insurance. This position is within a union-represented bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment may be subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt.

Location

This position is remote until the CPC Center’s office is able to reopen. At that time, this position will be based in our Washington, DC office.
