Mechanics Hall is considered the nation’s finest pre-Civil War performance hall and it is a beloved community gathering place in Central MA. The Hall is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization owned and operated by the Worcester County Mechanics Association. Our mission is to serve the community by offering the Hall for events that enrich, inspire, and enlighten. It is a National Historic Landmark building and has served the Worcester community since 1857.

We are looking for an energized, take-charge, positive, and knowledgeable Development Associate. The Development Associate reports to, and works closely with, the Executive Director and coordinates Mechanics Hall’s efforts to obtain financial and other support from individuals, businesses, and foundations with a goal to ensure the organization meets annual financial goals. The Associate, in concert with the Executive Director, formulates and implements strategies to meet mission-driven short- and long-term fundraising objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the organization’s fundraising plans and membership program.

• Coordinate fundraising events including scheduling events, securing vendors, coordinating mailings, solicit sponsorships, and prepare budgets and financial reports.

• Maintain the donor management database and all donor files, ensuring that donor records are accurate and up to date.

• Generate donor and fund reports and perform database queries as needed.

• Process and manage gift transactions from receipt through sending donor correspondence

• Research, define, and help with prospect and donor cultivation.

• Prepare grant proposals and funder reports.

• Coordinate with Finance Department to ensure accuracy in data and donation collection.

• Support and monitor stewardship activities.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with donors through friendly and efficient customer service.

• Assist with all appeals: membership, annual, spring, and special solicitations both in print and online.

• Support the ED’s donor development outreach, scheduling visits and assisting with supporting presentation and proposal development.

• Work closely with Marketing Communications to reflect branded messaging and create effective donor and sponsor communications.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED is required; some amount of higher education is preferred.

• 3-5 years of Development or Fundraising experience required.

• Excellent writing, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills required.

• Event planning experience preferred.

• Experience with database management preferred.

• Knowledge of and work experience in Worcester and Worcester County preferred.

The Development Associate position is 32 hours weekly with benefits. Scheduled work hours can be flexible, but the standard work schedule is Monday through Friday. Working early mornings, evenings and weekends is sometimes necessary. The Development Associate must be willing to work additional hours when needed. Range of pay is $20 - $25 per hour based on skills and experience.
