AHRC New York City's Employment & Business Services (EBS) collaborates with private and public sector businesses to employ people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in a wide range of job positions, allowing for each person to be fully integrated in the world of work and in their community at large.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Directly oversees all employment accounts, contracts, tasks and operations.  Ensures all contracts assigned are successfully implemented and outcomes achieved or surpassed. 

§ In the absence of Vice President of EBS, oversees department operations and supervises departmental managers. 

§ Ensures services provided are in accordance with applicable regulatory and contractual standards. Maintains knowledge of laws and regulations impacting services and oversight of compliance program encouraging culture of compliant and ethical behaviors.

§ Supervises and ensures maintenance of individual files in appropriate manner and ensures paperwork related to all funding sources completed as required. Ensures files are maintained adequately for audits, reviews and outside evaluations.

§ Ensures all services provided are in best interests of individuals served and conforms to policies, guidelines, and values established by funders and the agency.

§ Along with Vice President of EBS, assists with development of new integrated employment options for individuals with developmental disabilities.

§ Participates actively on industry trade groups and associations, as needed.

§ Serves as liaison with funding agencies (including NYS OPWDD, NYC DOHMH, NYS DOE, NYS DOL, NYS ACCESS-VR, NYC DYCD, NYSID and Source America).

§ Maintains complete policy and procedure manual for EBS and ensures alignment with agency-wide policies and procedures.

§ Ensures all staff paid in accordance with DOL, NYC Comptrollers’ Office, INS and IRS standards.

§ Attends management and supervisory meetings as required.

§ Participates in reviewing, investigating and following up on incident reports.

§ Participates in development and implementation of staff training initiatives in EBS.

§ Works to ensure health and safety of all individuals and staff.

Business Operations

§ Identifies and develops opportunities for profitable business ventures.

§ Manages day-to-day operations of business ventures to provide safe, efficient operations and to maximize potential for successful employment experience for individuals.

§ Ensures business ventures operate in compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines.

§ Seeks out new sources of financial support to enhance potential ventures.

§ Develops business plans and marketing plans for each new venture.

§ Develops budget projections for each project and monitors fiscal progress.

§ Provides for quality control and customer satisfaction in each project.

Intra-Agency Coordination

§ Communicates and collaboratively effectively with all units and departments of AHRC. 

§ Takes active role in AHRC committees, projects, and functions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

§ Master’s degree in field of special education, business administration or related field and at least five years’ work experience in vocational program service management for individuals with developmental disabilities required OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least ten years related experience required.

§ Experience in field of marketing and representation of goods and delivery services to both private and public sector industries highly preferred.

§ Progressive supervisory experience and ability to supervise staff effectively evaluate and motivate staff performance.  Supports, directs and disciplines staff as necessary.

§ Ability to communicate highly effectively both verbally and in written form.

§ Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for current programs and implement new programs.

§ Flexibility in work hours necessary. 

§ Must be willing and able to travel throughout NY City and NY State.

§ Valid New York State Driver’s license required.

§ Solid understanding of the Janitorial Industry.
