General Statement of Duties
This is a full-time exempt position (equivalent to 40 [40.00] hr/wk). The Program Manager is an integral part of the management team whose primary responsibility is to plan, implement, manage and coordinate all community outreach and educational programs including program design, curriculum development, participant recruitment, logistical support, staff oversight, evaluation, and program delivery. The program manager position is responsible for overseeing and meaningfully adding value by contributing to the following programs: Wellness Program, the Community Garden Program, the Community Health Ambassador Program, Nature Preserves based recreational activities, and community outreach, education, and engagement. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Core Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Program Committee, Program Staff, Farm Manager, Community Gardens Manager, seasonal staff, volunteers, program evaluation team and community partners to plan, execute, supervise, and evaluate the Wellness program.
Sustain and strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers to manage the Wellness Program referral process.
Work within the community of New Haven to advertise, recruit, and promote the Wellness Program to eligible families, assuring the Wellness Program achieves full enrollment.
Lead, direct and recommend the hiring of staff, interns and volunteers and contribute to the establishment of a positive, healthy work environment to facilitate the execution of the Wellness program.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
Balance competing demands to ensure that the programmatic components of the Wellness Program are grounded in best practices, consistently meet performance objectives and bring measurable evidence-based value to program participants and other stakeholders.
Utilize and evaluate systems and software for program data such as the expanded use of Salesforce, use of SMS marketing tools/text-messaging software for recruitment and integrating communication through electronic media records.
Manage youth educators and ensure high quality delivery of a nutrition-based curriculum for the children of Wellness Program participants.
Conduct weekly workshop sessions throughout the core program implementation period (June through September) and conduct virtual/in-person monthly maintenance sessions for participants (October through June).
Manage the annual program budget, track expenses, and report programmatic financial management efforts and reports to the Executive Director as requested.
Assist with development projects such as annual fundraisers and grant writing by providing data, narratives, and program updates.
Author and prepare program reports and presentations for the Executive Director, funders, and the Board of Directors.
Responsibly represent and liaise on behalf of Gather New Haven to stakeholders in virtual and in-person settings.
Attend one to one meetings with the Executive Director, team meetings, and all-hands meetings.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to plan and execute business development initiatives.
Contribute to program and organization level strategic planning initiatives.
Continue building a culture of community inclusion and equity in our programming, along with working to create and strengthen pathways to leadership and personal empowerment for our program participants.
Provide input towards program and employee evaluations.
Support and promote the organization’s position on racial equity, environmental justice, and food justice issues which can include messaging and actions that are in opposition to discriminatory practices that produce food apartheid, disparities in health care systems and inequitable food systems.

Facilitate and conduct weekly food/crop share distribution to program participants.
Ensuring goals are met in all areas and when possible exceeding key performance metrics.
Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Participate in the development, production, and promotion of presentations and workshops throughout New Haven’s communities to an array of audiences on subjects that include but are not limited to plant based nutrition, culinary medicine, awareness of public resources to address food access issues, the therapeutic benefits of the natural environment , fitness, wellness, and naturopathic approaches to improving individual and community well-being.
Coordinates activities between multiple projects to ensure alignment and fulfillment of Gather New Haven’s goals.
