About the Position: The purpose of this role is to ensure the timely and accurate execution of the daily accounting function of the organization. The key responsibilities of the AccountingAssociateinclude accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grants administration. The AccountingAssociatewill report to the Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

AccountingResponsibilities

  • Directly responsible for maintaining and organizing internal records and support, involving (but not limited to) accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial record-keeping.
  • Oversee all vendor files, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform accounting procedures that ensure adequate internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Monitor organizational financial systems to ensure transactional information is entered on a timely basis
  • Assist in the monthly closings, including indirect costs allocations, accruals, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensure that financial records and accounting software entries are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Engage in effective and timely internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; provide training, support, and guidance to ensure that all staff has the knowledge required to comply with financial policies and procedures; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience required (including internships and service year experience. On-the-job nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and enthusiasm for using technology to create efficiencies is required; proficiency with Quickbooks preferred.
  • High sense of urgency with a hands-on approach combined with the ability to provide leadership, work prioritization, and structure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Possess strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to perform with the highest of standards and quality and an unquestioned level of integrity and personal character.
  • Appreciation of diversity and commitment to inclusion and equity.
  • Clear understanding of, and commitment to, the Atlas Corps mission and goals.
