Job

Title: Harm Reduction Worker/Specialist



Location: Crossroads

Prevention & Access @ NJCRI



Reports

to: Manager of Crossroads Prevention

& Access 



Shift: Monday to Friday 8 am-4 pm



 



 



Crossroads Prevention & Access @ NJCRI

seeks a qualified candidate to assist with the daily operations of the drop in

center and to provide Harm Reduction Education and Effective Behavioral

Interventions (VOICES/VOCES) to the drop in center participants. 



NJCRI is a multi-service community agency

which provides many facets of services from Infectious Disease Specialist,

Primary Medical Care,



Transgender Medical Care, Hormone Therapy,

Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Services, Case Management, LGBTQ

Services, PrEP Services,



Food Pantry, Clinical Research and Trails,

Homeless Drop-In, Community Outreach, Syringe Exchange, etc.).   We are proactive in ensuring we put in



 safety measures to assure our agency is safe

for our staff and patients especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Because we specialize in Infectious



Diseases, you may be called upon by the

agency to assist with COVID 19 prevention-related task.



 



RESPONSIBILITIES:



1.     

Implement

Interventions Delivered to Individuals (IDI), as described by the New Jersey

Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDOHSS), Division of HIV/AIDS

Services (DHAS).



 



2.     

Enter

IDI sessions in NJCRI internal database Athena.



 



3.     

Conduct

Effective Behavioral Intervention (VOICES/ VOCES) to increase

condom use among heterosexual African American and Latino men and women who

visit the drop in center,



 



4.     

Maintain

attendance sheets and group notes for every VOICES/ VOCES session conducted.



 



5.     

 Conduct substance use disorder and mental

health screenings; make referrals to appropriate service providers and track

linkages.



 



6.     

Assist

in managing the daily operations of the drop in center.



 



7.     

Assure

that client services including showers, laundry facilities and nutrition

services are provided in a safe orderly manner.



 



8.     

Maintain

records including daily log of participation and supply inventory.



 



9.     

Provide

referrals when requested to other services such as mental health, substance use

disorder treatment housing etc…



 



10. 

Identify

and refer clients in need to affordable and safe housing opportunities.



 



11.  Prepare monthly

reports to be submitted to Program Manager



 



12. 

Interact

with other service providers to enhance coordination of services and referrals

to various programs.



 



13. 

Assist

in evaluation and improvement of program services.



 



14. 

Participate

in weekly staff meetings with the Manager of the program.



15. 

Foster

and preserve a strong team spirit among program staff and volunteers.



16. 

Enhance

one’s professional abilities via continuing education.



 



JOB

QUALIFICATIONS:



 



1.     

(Minimum

high school diploma required, associate degree preferred) at least 2 years’

experience providing health education and harm reduction-related services in a

community-based setting. A minimum 1 year experience working with persons with

substance use disorder and mental health problem. 



 



2.     

Working

knowledge of Windows 2000, Excel, word processing, database and spread sheet

applications preferred.



3.     

Ideal

candidates should have good written oral communication skills, be organized and

have the ability to multi-task.
