What if the next step in your career was to join a team of migration experts who value supporting and learning from each other as much as the exceptional work they do? MPI’s International Program is a friendly, tight-knit team of researchers who are passionate about all things migration and committed to being essential partners to policymakers and other stakeholders working on migration, asylum, and integration policy worldwide. We are looking for an integral team member to help us in our mission of promoting better understanding of migration, thus supporting evidence-based and effective policymaking that works for all elements of society.

As an Associate Policy Analyst, you will be expected to jump right in on the array of projects that our senior staff are leading, bolstering the brainpower of the team through your strong writing and analytic skills. We will support you to build your own portfolio of work and become one of our go-to experts. Public events and private roundtables are also a big part of what we do to facilitate critical discussions. You will play an important role in mapping key policy networks and identifying the policymakers, thought leaders, and organizations to connect with, as well as sending out virtual meeting coordinates and following up with potential speakers. If you are organized, proactive, curious, and an avid reader, as well as have strong research, data, and writing skills, you have come to the right place.

This position will primarily support the International Program’s work on COVID-19 and mobility, and funding is available for one year in the first instance. The successful candidate will help mold an ambitious program of research and meetings on how the pandemic is reshaping border and mobility management, help analyze large-scale datasets on mobility and migration, and work with the team to develop recommendations on how to safely reopen travel and migration channels. S/he will work largely with the International Program’s Director of Research to build networks with stakeholders (including outside the migration field) working on these issues, commission research papers, and design a series of meetings that help move the needle on COVID-19 and mobility issues.

If you are a true researcher and writer at heart, with a passion for migration policy, then we want to talk to you.
