The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, an outpatient mental health center specializing in bereavement and trauma, is currently seeking an experienced child and adult therapist to join our non-profit organization.

Status:         At-will, full-time staff position

Reports to: Director of Clinical Services

Primary Function:

Provides direct mental health services to diverse child and adult clients assigned through the Counseling Program’s general intake process at our NW office located in Van Ness.

Responsibilities:

·        Works 40 hours per week and sees clients as scheduled by the Intake Coordinator; maintains a full caseload to the degree possible

·        Provides short and long-term counseling services to individuals, children and groups at the Wendt Center NW office

·        Provides brief crisis counseling services

·        Completes a clinical assessment, treatment plan and diagnosis, within a week of a client’s initial session

·        Maintains current clinical case records and provides reports as needed

·        Maintains therapy rooms and materials to professional standards

·        Contacts collateral professionals and others in the community regarding cases when appropriate

·        Meets with supervisor regarding caseload and clinical and administrative concerns

·        Maintains updated, current client schedule in online system

·        Provides caseload information to Director for statistical purposes

·        Completes on-line insurance panel credentialing process

·        Uses email to remain informed of Wendt Center business

·        Provides information for program and grant development as needed

·        Understands and upholds the Center’s philosophy and mission and abides by the Personnel Handbook and Clinical Manual guidelines


Qualifications:

·        Graduate level degree in mental health

·        MUST have an independent District of Columbia mental health license (LICSW or LPC Only)

·        Minimum of four years of experience providing individual/family therapy

·        Proven Professional background working in trauma, grief and loss and crisis, including crime victim issues

·        Experience working with diverse client populations

·        Experience providing group therapy

·        Excellent verbal and writing skills; well organized

·        The ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with a broad range of people

·        Ability to work 2 evenings until 8pm, Monday through Thursday
