Summary of Position


The Institutional Giving Manager is primarily responsible for managing Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s (CSC’s) grants process and the portfolio of institutional relationships for CSC. This role also requires administrative and strategic support to the Director of Development and the Managing Director. In addition, the Institutional Giving Manager may be asked to lead specific projects or be the key contact for specific Fundraising initiatives, including events. 

 

Primary Responsibilities


Grant Application and Reporting Processes:

•     Write and prepare grant proposals and reports, including drafting or collaborating on grant budgets, assembling documentation, mailing/submitting grant and report packets, and following up as necessary

•     Manage grant calendar, including all application and reporting deadlines, and entering this data into the donor database

•     Research and report on potential foundations, businesses, and donors


Donor Database Management:

•     Manage database of current, past, and potential donors, especially as regards institutional relationships


General Fundraising:

•     Assist with stewardship of individual and institutional donors

•     Assist Director of Development in developing fundraising materials – case statements, correspondence with donors, annual and semi-annual appeal letters

•     Assist Director of Development in identifying sponsorship leads

•     Organize and maintain the fundraising team’s collateral and written assets, particularly as regards to  institutional relationships

•     Assist in organizing and executing and actively participate in Stewardship and Cultivation events

•     Research and implement new institutional and corporate funding sources


General Administrative:

•     Edit and create documents and presentations as needed

•     Assist in conducting in-house mailings, including report generation, mail merges, and assembly

•     Assist in organizing and executing events, including data entry, name badge and list preparation, taking RSVPs, etc.

•     Attend, host, and/or actively participate in staff meetings, company retreats, season performances, and other company-wide public and private events

•     Oversee specific projects and/or serve as liaison to other staff


 

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Share responsibility for anti-racist, multi-cultural organizational perspective and Chesapeake Shakespeare’ mission and vision
  • Participate in staff meetings, as appropriate and as schedule allows
  • Participate in performance evaluations and annual program planning.
