Job Description

Magis Americas is seeking an experienced professional to join its team as Projects Officer (PO), reporting to the Executive Director. The PO will coordinate and support the implementation of all aspects of projects with the support of the Executive Director and in conjunction with local Global South project teams. This includes responsibility for identifying needs, developing proposals and overseeing implementation. The Projects Officer will also work closely with the Executive Director in defining all aspects of the project cycle.  The PO will foster and support effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders in the interest of promoting Magis Americas’ mission.


General Responsibilities 

  • Conduct annual needs assessments with Global South partners and produce project proposals according to best practices. 
  • Develop and monitor project portfolio, including, but not limited to project schedules, budgets, evaluations and reporting.
  • Liaise with Global South partners to ensure proper project coordination.
  • Coordinate with Global South partners and Development team to ensure timely compliance with all reporting as required by donors and funding agencies. 
  • Maintain updated records of all project services and activities in CRM (Salesforce).
  • Assist with analysis of project proposals submitted by new potential partners.  
  • Support the Executive Director in the cultivation and stewardship efforts of all Global South partners.
  • Support other project initiatives taken on by Magis Americas as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. (e.g., nonprofit management, international development/relations, or other relevant field).
  • Minimum of three years of project coordination skills with experience in managing and supervising projects, preferably with nonprofit organizations. 
  • Excellent knowledge of the project cycle and logical framework and theory of change approaches.
  • Possess good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues.
  • Experience with basic financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with the socio-political environment and current humanitarian crises in the Global South
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish). French, Portuguese and/or Haitian Creole also a plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing and oral presentation skills. 
  • The ability to develop and cultivate positive relationships with colleagues and Global South partners. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive and CRM (Salesforce) software.
  • Familiarity with the Society of Jesus a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
