Overview

For almost 50 years, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across Covenant House sites in 31 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.


Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP, Marketing Optimization & Digital Experience, the Director, Social Media will develop and champion Covenant House’s social media strategy across social platforms collaborating with the Marketing, Brand, and Communication Teams to build experiences that deepen our constituents’ connections with our organization and mission.

Our ideal candidate has proven experience developing an organic social media audience growth strategy with new and existing followers across platforms. They will work to ensure Covenant House International (CHI) is reaching and engaging audiences, delivering relevant, creative content, and that social media content supports our ambitious brand awareness and revenue goals. The exceptional candidate will have experience balanced in strategy, creativity, tactics, and relationship building across a wide variety of stakeholders. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the social media strategy, with a focus on delivering creative social-first content to increase followers, reach, and engagement across our core social channels.
  • Seamlessly drive successful social media campaigns and content across social channels including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and potentially other emerging channels. 
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify content opportunities (PR, Corp Partnerships, Influencer, and Ambassador Relationships). 
  • Provide perspective on social audience’s segmentation strategy, go-to-market, and campaign development alongside the integrated marketing team
  • Create snackable, creative social content that aligns with the Covenant House brand and mission.
  • Work closely with brand and creative teams to develop voice and tone in social media.
  • Drive CHI advocacy strategy on Social Media in collaboration with internal advocacy leads
  • Conduct real-time optimizations in audience targeting, creative, and copy through A/B testing.
  • Lead the strategic process, providing insights and tactics to create content, build audiences, and amplify reach
  • Manage & develop the strategy & execution of influencer and partner programs.
  • Work closely with Covenant House sites throughout North and Latin America.


Minimum Experience & Education

  • 5-7 years experience in digital media, social media, or community management roles
  • BA/BS degree Marketing, English, Psychology 
  • Excellent project management skills, detailed-oriented, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines efficiently. 
  • A skilled writer who understands the difference between editorial and social writing and with the ability to provide meaningful copy in a short format.
  • A constant finger on the digital pulse and an eye on the social landscape to discover what’s new, what competitors are doing, and what innovations are around the corner. 
  • A passion for storytelling, bringing a brand to life in a differentiated way to engage current & new followers. 
  • Experience managing online communities and social media accounts, both existing and emerging.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present information across functions and levels.
  • Adept at navigating organizations and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A strong, up-to-date point of view on digital media, social channels, and content platforms.
