The Grow and Walk Program Assistant will support the implementation of the “Grow & Walk: Moving Toward a Healthier and Greener Tomorrow” program. As a part of the Get Healthy Philly initiative of the Philadelphia Department of Health, this new Black Girls With Green Thumbs (BGWGT) program will support West Oak Lane residents - a neighborhood in Northwest Philadelphia - to improve their individual and community health through a multi-month, community-based walking and garden-tending program featuring community destinations and points of interest. The program is scheduled to be held in-person/on location. BGWGT, subcontractors, program partners, and participants will follow COVID-19 safety practices, as well as follow City of Philadelphia rules and guidelines.
This position will support program directors with a number of tasks including, but not limited to garden-bed building, program facilitation, and community outreach. Gardening experience and basic knowledge of plants is preferred. The candidate should be reliable and take direction well.
