Title: Director of Race Partnerships

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Start Date: July 1, 2023

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

The organization is founded on the principle that “Running Moves Lives” and encompasses a national youth program, Marathon Kids, along with adult programming and membership through Austin Runners Club, and a portfolio of race and running events in the greater Austin area. The purpose of the organization is to empower runners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to lead lifetimes of wellbeing. Through running, we strive to show everyone they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Director of Race Partnerships will spearhead new and established fundraising initiatives to fuel ARC’s mission and ambitious goals for growth, including event sponsorship sales and execution, corporate partnerships, and community programming. The ideal candidate will bring their experience executing large-scale races, events, and member-based programming to the role, both as a strategic, “big-picture” thinker and a highly-organized self-starter tackling projects big and small. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • In collaboration with the CEO, development team and race committees, lead and execute sponsorship strategies and partnership development, leveraging the organization’s race assets and growing membership base to bring new and returning runners and sponsors into the community
  • Craft proposals, solicitation letters, pitch decks, donor correspondence, and related materials to support race sponsorship sales and other fundraising initiatives
  • Oversee sponsor cultivation activities, including benefit delivery, event activation, and post-race reporting
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing to develop and execute communications plans to generate visibility for ARC and promote the race and sponsor portfolio
  • Regularly scan the Austin community for new business prospects, race assets, fundraising opportunities, cause marketing partners and local leads to promote the Austin running Community and Marathon Kids

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a fundraising or sales environment and a recent track record of successful event sponsorship sales
  • Direct experience directing or managing activities related to races, events and/or member services
  • A detail-oriented strategic thinker with the ability to plan, set goals and objectives, organize, and follow-through 
  • A strong interpersonal and communication skill set and demonstrated ability to work effectively with and gain the respect and support of varied and changing constituencies.
  • Experience and or capability in learning and utilizing current technology including but not limited to Salesforce, Asana, and Google suite.
  • Position requires some travel and flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $55,000-$65,000 and a generous benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, an option for hybrid work, and more.
