The International Youth Foundation (IYF), a global nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives and conditions of young people worldwide, is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to support its public and private sector business development activities, as well as its individual giving campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven, detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills and a commitment to global youth development. To support Business Development (BD) efforts to secure funding from a diversified, steady, and broader base of funders to support the expansion of IYF’s program models across regions and to develop new programs and partnerships that support IYF’s strategic priorities.


Proposal Development Responsibilities

·        Facilitate/coordinate deadline-driven proposal development process: Coordinate proposal development team; manage inputs from multiple departments; liaise with external partners and corporate/government funders.

·        Support the development of letters of inquiry and components of concept papers and proposals, by drafting/editing capacity statements and other supporting technical documents (e.g. organizational charts, budgets, graphics, and PowerPoint presentations). Compile final version of proposals, concept notes, etc. and prepare for electronic/paper submission as required.

·        Conduct targeted research focused on the status of youth in a specific region or country; analyze funder landscapes; and read and synthesize technical documents.

·        In coordination with Human Resources and other Business Development staff, support recruitment of field-based staff for proposals, including posting job descriptions, tracking applicants, scheduling interviews, collecting and reviewing requisite application documents, formatting resumes for submission, and communicating with applicants throughout the process.


Operational Responsibilities

·        Develop a deep understanding of IYF’s core competencies and Business Development (BD) strategy across regions.

·        Track potential funding opportunities from public and private sector funders.

·        Coordinate IYF’s charitable giving efforts by drafting funder communications and tracking incoming gifts.

·        Support the BD department’s operational and funding objectives through inputting, managing, and reviewing business development opportunities as well as building and analyzing reports and dashboards on IYF’s Salesforce platform.

·        Research, synthesize, and organize qualitative and quantitative information from diverse internal and external sources.

·        Assist with the development of marketing materials for corporate and public-sector outreach, including print and web materials, in coordination with BD and Marketing and Communications (MaC) teams.

·        Support funder cultivation activities through conducting research, drafting/editing documents, and participating in funder meetings.

·        Provide administrative support to the BD department, as needed.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

·        Experience and/or ability to maintain and manage online management systems, such as Salesforce. Direct experience working in Salesforce is a huge plus.

·        Excellent organizational and project management skills, with proven ability to manage upward to move assignments to completion.

·        Preference for a candidate with basic proposal development skills, including writing and editing. Experience working on proposals for USAID, DFID, and other overseas government development agencies, multilateral institutions, and private sector (corporate funders and/or private foundations) preferred.

·        Ability to make sound judgments, assume responsibility, and work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

·        Ability to identify, balance, and rapidly shift priorities to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and in a timely and professional manner.

·        Strong interpersonal skills appropriate for operating effectively in a multicultural, international team environment. Flexibility, proactivity, and comfort with ambiguity all essential.

·        Strong oral and written English communication skills. Fluency in a second language is a plus.

·        Excellent time management and organizational skills are required. Thorough knowledge and experience in managing office systems, filing systems, and general office procedures preferred.

·        Excellent computer skills using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, required

·        Ability to travel internationally as needed.

Required Experience

·        Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field required.

·        1-3 years of experience in the field of international development and/or business development preferred.

·        Business development experience, including sales, institutional fundraising, or account management is a plus.

·        Basic understanding of proposal development and experience working in non-profit, government, and/or corporate sector preferred.

·        Experience working/living internationally preferred.
