Summary

The Allender Center Program Manager provides leadership for all Allender Center programs and events including budgeting, bookings, management of the administrative Program Team, program review, and collaborative planning and design. This position is responsible for creating and leading a high-functioning team to accomplish the production, participant communication, and overall care required to maintain and grow our annual programming of local and national trainings, workshops, conferences, speaking engagements, and online learning experiences. It also includes leadership of cross functional teams and projects to steward collaborative workflow and departmental growth initiatives in order to build the Program Department to reach its fullest capacity.


Essential Functions

The Allender Center Program Manager is responsible to:

  • Create and manage annual program revenue and expense budget
  • Supervise and equip administrative Program Team to handle each offering’s full lifecycle of program production and participant communication and care
  • Expand Program Team in 2019 by hiring additional staff to administratively support new and growing program initiatives
  • Manage prospective event and speaking engagement opportunities for Dan Allender and the Teaching Team. Assess viability and potential of each inquiry in order to build an annual calendar to fulfill program and budget goals. Steward each opportunity during ideation and content discernment phases
  • Oversee production and be present at local Seattle-based trainings and events
  • Oversee program structure and implementation of guided learning cohort groups enrolled in our online course material
  • Design and implement a community-building, resource-rich communication experience for each program cohort from the point of enrollment through to program completion and exit
  • Lead program review processes through assessing participant and team feedback. Identify opportunities for growth and adjustments to best meet each program’s goals and learning objectives
  • Identify and meet program requirements to provide nationally recognized continuing education units for training events and online courses
  • Cultivate and maintain a high level of personalized hospitality and attention to partners and participants. Implement in all facets of communication and event environments through you and the Program Team
  • Provide warm, welcoming, and attentive presence to groups and individuals at events to foster relationship and an atmosphere of care. Speak publicly at conferences and gatherings to welcome and provide program announcements to attendees.
  • Assess internal administrative processes, workflow, and team function in order to identify concerns, needs, and gaps. Lead efforts to create and implement positive, solution-focused change
  • Initiate and maintain effective communication and a collaborative environment through creating and leading committees and cross functional teams. Steward the linkage between Program Team, program instructors and facilitators, admissions, IT, marketing, and facilities departments as needed to foster clear and well sequenced program planning
  • Design and launch innovative new offerings and learning experiences to support audience needs and growth opportunities through conducting research, focus groups, collaborating with Director of Programs, and other developmental planning strategies
  • Travel 2-5 times per year to national Allender Center events with teaching and administrative team


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • BS/BA required
  • 2-3 years management experience preferred, preferably in a non-profit or education environment
  • Knowledgeable understanding of and alignment with The Allender Center’s offerings and mission, with capacity to effectively communicate it to others
  • Ability to provide concise and effective communication in person; demonstrate superior written communication skills
  • Highly personable presence and professional demeanor

  • Ability to lift event equipment up to 35 lbs


Supervisory Responsibilities

The Program Manager supervises a Program Team consisting of program and event production staff and participant care staff


Working Conditions

This job is generally performed in either an office or a classroom/conference center environment. In addition, the position requires travel periodically for program offerings, and to attend occasional functions outside The Allender Center to represent the Center or program department.
