General Summary: This position involves developing and maintaining systems to support certification programs. Applies policies, procedures, and requirements for Graduate Teacher Education certification. Works with Graduate Teacher Education students from application to completion of certificate and/or degree.


Job Description:

  • Tracks the progress of graduate teacher candidates enrolled in certification programs, from acceptance to completion of program. This includes but is not limited to certification coursework and certification requirements, keeps files up to date.
  • Under the direction of the Certification Officer, works with prospective graduate students to create approved plans of study as necessary.
  • Produces and sends out admissions materials for Graduate Teacher Education programs.
  • Responds to internal data requests such as certification program reports, information required by director of assessment, faculty requests, requests to other departments for SOE information, etc.
  • Implements processes and procedures for the Certification Office to keep in compliance with federal and state regulations and requirements.
  • Certifies graduate teacher education students eligible for certification. This includes but is not limited to verifying student completion data to OSPI, closing out and archiving files, keeping verification lists up-to-date, and communicating with students regarding the status of their certification.
  • Monitors degree requirements for candidates in the Graduate Teacher Education degrees.
  • Works with Computer Information Systems (CIS), Graduate Enrollment Operations (EOps), and Student Academic Services (SAS) to maintain certification data in Administrative Banner for all teacher-preparation programs.
  • Works with Certification Advisor, Placement Office, and Program Chairs to ensure appropriate placement assignments. This includes working with the placement office to streamline processes and procedures as necessary for program improvement and program compliance.
  • Represents the School of Education at various meetings, webinars, class presentations, and conferences.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of office experience. 
  • Two to three years of experience in higher education, including skill with a wide array of technologies for keeping organized, handling data, maintaining program documents, and facilitating communication is preferred.
  • Experience working with graduate students a plus.
  • Friendly, industrious, and resilient personality with strong attention to detail. 
  • Must be effective working alone and in a team.
  • Must be able to perform accurate data entry, have clear communication skills, and be teachable.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, ability to comprehend technical writing, knowledge of state certification requirements is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook and Word.  
  • Experience with Administrative Banner, SharePoint, Slate, and proficiency in Excel, is preferred.


Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.


Salary: $40,000-$41,000 annually.
