About Aging Connected

Getting older adults online has never been more urgent than it is today. The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted our nation’s systems for social support, communications, and health care, while sharply increasing the importance of home internet participation as a lifeline for senior citizens. Age continues to be one of the strongest predictors of digital non-participation: fewer than 60 percent of American seniors have wireline broadband access at home, which during today’s public health crisis has particularly serious consequences.

This year OATS is launching a major initiative: Aging Connected. Aging Connected is envisioned as a national campaign to help close the technology adoption gap for older adults. With support from the Humana Foundation, we have a goal of getting online one million older adults by June of 2022. By connecting and coordinating the efforts of telecommunications companies, nonprofit senior service providers, and public sector agencies, we aim to increase broadband connectivity among older adults to help seniors maximize the benefit of technology use for health, social engagement, and other outcomes.

About the Project Manager Role

The Aging Connected Project Manager will play a critical role on a small team of approximately four core staff members, whose shared primary goal is to drive getting one million additional seniors online. The project manager will be responsible for structuring, strategizing, and executing the Aging Connected work plan, ensuring that this multi-faceted project is successfully implemented on-time and on budget.

Major work streams include: Developing a resource-rich platform to serve as the virtual hub for Aging Connected with offline methods of access; Multi-sector coalition-building and stakeholder relationship management; Fundraising, grant reporting and communications support. The Project Manager would drive the development and management of the tools and other deliverables required to activate these work streams.

While the Aging Connected campaign is planned to run through June of 2022, the Project Manager position is envisioned as a permanent position at OATS.
