An Excellent Opportunity

We are looking for a Public Relations Writer who can help us successfully tell the Girl Scout story, to a broad range of audiences. The right candidate will successfully promote the Girl Scout brand in speeches, social media and with the media. 


Here’s What You Will Be Doing

·        Research topics and write speeches and prepare presentations (PowerPoint, Video) for the Chief Executive Officer and Board President

·        Prepare talking points to prepare the CEO for speaking engagements and media interviews

·        Manage show-flow at events

·        Develop PR campaigns and contests

·        Develop content for Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

·        Design media images and messaging for social media

·        Maintaining database of Girl Scout troops (“Sudden Service”) to pull for attendance at high profile events

·        Prepare Sudden Service girls with talking points and staff the events

·        Write press releases, pitch stories and coordinate media interviews, often identifying Girl Scouts and providing talking points

·        Train and coordinate activities for Girl Scout journalist that take over social media: G.I.R.L. Squad

·        Take photographs and shoot and edit video at Girl Scout events


Is this you?

·        Passionate about public relations

·        Passionate about girl leadership

·        Creative and comfortable working with Adobe Creative Cloud

·        Self-motivated and efficient with strong time-management skills

·        Great written and oral communication skills, including public presentations

·        Experienced with Microsoft Office; InDesign, Illustrator, Photo Shop

·        Comfortable working with a wide variety of people, from girls to executives
