Who We Are:

Arizona Advocacy Foundation (AZAF) and the Arizona Advocacy Network (AZAN) are devoted to defending and deepening Arizona’s commitment to democracy. We believe in a democracy that is not limited to voting in elections. We believe that all people should have autonomy over the decisions that affect their everyday lives, and should be able to participate in democracy without restrictions. We imagine a system of governance that truly prioritizes the health and well-being of people, and we believe we have the collective power to bring about transformational change.

We are a part of a community that collectively has the power to bring about the world we envision. This network of individuals and organizations stands on the shoulders of Black, Indigenous, and Latinx leaders as well as the giants of the SB1070 fight.

We are committed to struggle for democracy, not at the cost and/or labor (emotional, thought leadership, time, passion, stories, etc.) of those closest to harm and directly impacted, but instead through solidarity, support, and the dissemination of organizational resources (financial, relational, expertise, etc.). Our work will publicly and transparently prioritize and center communities that have been historically marginalized and systematically excluded from the democratic process.

Strong applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to equity. AZAN/F encourages applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, citizenship, disability, veteran status, and record of arrest or conviction.

  • Work with staff to maintain up-to-date press kits and talking points for rapid response on issues related to AZAN/F work.
  • Work with partners and coalitions to develop messaging and support collective communications as needed.
  • Respond to media inquiries with relevant data and analysis, or by facilitating connections with experts inside or outside our team.
  • Create materials including press releases and op-eds.
  • Support the Development team in fundraising-related communications.
  • Collaborate with our team to support democracy reform efforts and provide all staff with a strong day-to-day leadership presence.
