What do you do all day?

National Math + Science Initiative seeks a highly organized individual willing to join our team as one of our Program Managers directly responsible for the management and support of a cohort of schools in our College Readiness Program (CRP). The Program Manager ensures the quality implementation and sustainment of programming in the schools we serve by becoming strategic partners for the administrators who organize and prepare their teachers and students towards advancement in AP programming and STEM education.

To achieve our mission as a NMSI Program Manager, we are committed to support program schools in the successful implementation of the CRP through the following strategic priorities:

  • Drive Results through Data-Decision Making – Prepare district and building level administrators to plan for each academic year using data to drive decisions regarding student enrollment, AP course selection/offering, and teacher placement/ training throughout the year and summer.
  • Build Capacity for Sustainability – Develop district and building level administrators to facilitate an academic culture shift in their schools prioritizing access and opportunities for students in STEM education and preparation for College Readiness through coaching and planning.
  • Manage Programming through Partnerships – Partner with districts, administrators, and schools to experience the CRP seamlessly by ensuring schools leverage the program supports in a way that is most aligned to schools’ needs.

What are the details?

The Program Manager position reports to the Director, School Partnerships and Program Management. The Program Manager will demonstrate a commitment to NMSI’s mission, leadership and influencing skills, and a knowledge of secondary teaching and learning; data analysis and exceptional communication and organizational skills are critical for success in this role. The ability to speak compellingly about our work and develop content knowledge in key organizational initiatives is also required.

While work will vary day to day, there are typical job responsibilities in this role:

  • Manage programming through building strong relationships with school-based and district administrators to increase AP math, science and English enrollment and student qualifying AP results;
  • Facilitate analysis of student and teacher performance data in each content area to identify areas for targeted intervention and best practice sharing;
  • Coach building and district administrators to utilize data to develop strong academic programs in their schools, choose best practices for instruction, and hire and train teachers;
  • Coach building and district administrators through periodic check-ins, school visits, and communication that lead them to take ownership of program implementation, follow-through on initiatives, and future sustainability of programming beyond NMSI’s presence in their schools;
  • Build strong relationships with school-based and district administrators to implement and facilitate CRP programming through continued communication, goal-setting, and clear expectations;
  • Share knowledge and benefits of the AP program, AP course sequences and pre-requisites, and exam policies, and support building administrators around individual course recruitment strategies;
  • Coordinate, prepare, execute, schedule, communicate, maintain and report on all CRP activities and transactions in the schools assigned by the Director of School Support;
  • Identify and build relationships with community partners to enhance school support, understand the regional landscape and its impact on student achievement, and continue growth in the region;
  • Collaborate across NMSI teams to help ensure the schools we serve receive the best possible service and support; and
  • Represent NMSI as the leader in providing STEM education and increased opportunity for student success for every school and every region we partner.

  • Experience & Education – Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) with a Master’s Degree Preferred; minimum of three years as a teacher or administrator.
