The Capital Litigation Communications Project (CLCP), based in Washington, D.C., is seeking a full-time Communications Associate. CLCP provides strategic communications assistance to defense attorneys on death penalty cases around the country.

The Communications Associate will join a small, highly-skilled team in a professional, fast-paced environment. CLCP’s Communications Associate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including conducting online research, gathering and reviewing media coverage, maintaining coverage reports and press lists, implementing social media strategies, and drafting communications materials.

The successful candidate possesses the following credentials and experience:

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate work in journalism, communications, law, political science, or a related major
  • Interest in social and racial justice issues
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to multitask with confidence in a busy environment and stay on deadline
  • Strong writing ability (please provide 2 writing samples; if possible, at least one should be a communications-focused piece, such as a press release or op-ed)
  • Excellent online research skills
  • Knowledge of social media; familiarity with WordPress and HTML is preferred but not required

CLCP is a values-driven organization and inclusion is central to our mission. Salary is in the range of $45,000 - $50,000 and commensurate with experience. The Communications Associate can work remotely, and the position is open starting January 2022.
