The League to Save Lake Tahoe (the League) is searching for a highly-motivated Communications Manager (CM) to handle social media, engagement, influencers, communications and media relations for one of the world’s foremost conservation/environmental brands: Keep Tahoe Blue. This is a great career move for an experienced communicator who wants to have real impact on environmental issues.
Founded in 1957, the League is the oldest and largest environmental organization focused on protecting Lake Tahoe. Our brand, Keep Tahoe Blue, is known throughout the world and is a model for marketing and messaging to protect a valuable resource. The League is a solution-based, innovative organization that values work/life balance, professionalism, transparency, and credibility. Our team reflects these core values and supports one another to achieve our annual goals. Our communications and marketing influences our success at national, state and local levels. The CM will help us create world-class content to further our mission of protecting and restoring the environmental health, sustainability and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The CM is a self-motivated and self-initiated communications expert responsible for managing and coordinating all of the League’s external and internal communication and public relations needs. You will assess, develop and coordinate targeted communications and public relations programs and monitor external media related to the League. You will help the League maneuver controversial issues to garner support from a wide array of audiences including members and supporters, the public and decision makers.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), the CM will set, guide, and implement the strategy for all communications and public relations to consistently articulate the League’s mission and initiatives. As the CM, you will continue to build our successful online communications campaigns by managing the production of targeted email strategies, improved social media influence, website content and video presence. You will work closely with staff across all departments and play an integral role in the success of the League’s year-round fundraising, advocacy and outreach efforts. You will help us be impactful in storytelling to build membership and effectively implement our four campaigns (combating pollution, promoting restoration, tackling invasive species, and protecting the shoreline).
Established in 1957, the League to Save Lake Tahoe is the oldest and largest environmental non-profit in the Lake Tahoe Basin. You’ve likely seen our iconic Keep Tahoe Blue sticker. Keep Tahoe Blue means so much more than showing your love for Lake Tahoe. A position at the League allows you to be part of a dynamic team that has been advocating for strong environmental protections of a national treasure for the last 60 years.
The Communications Manager is a full-time salaried position based at our headquarters in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Our regular business hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. However, due to the nature of this position, the League offers flexibility in scheduling work hours.
We offer health and dental benefits, vacation time after the 90-day probationary period, sick time, employer retirement matching after two years of employment, and an eco-conscious office environment and a fun and highly motivated team dedicated to protecting Lake Tahoe.
