Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the general ledgers of assigned Fund(s); preparation of journal entries; recording of annual and adjusting journal entries resulting from the annual audit 
  • Analyze general ledger account on a monthly and investigate variances
  • Perform closings on a monthly basis in a timely manner
  • Research and reconcile all discrepancies in the Fund(s); including reviewing Accounts Payable (AP) postings for assigned Funds monthly
  • Upload and analyze daily ADP benefit payments; reconcile amounts with Member Benefit Payment data
  • Prepare and process monthly 945 & 1042 tax payments along with associated annual filings
  • Prepare, update and maintain auditing schedules monthly and annually
  • Prepare monthly Bank Reconciliations and update bank account activity on a daily basis
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements: trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet and other supplemental schedules
  • Assist in cash flow preparation; ensure that cash activity is reconciled and recorded for all assigned accounts on a daily basis
  • Process all wire transfers, internal transfers and commingled check requests on a timely basis
  • Code checks and other invoices as requested
  • Assist in the preparation of the following annual filings: Form 5500 and Form 990 filings
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Must meet and maintain performance standards, including attendance and punctuality


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar field is required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Accounting (preferably Non-Profit Accounting or Taft Hartley Plans) or a closely related area 
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel and Basic skill level in Microsoft Word required
  • A strong understanding of accounting concepts and principles
  • Extraordinary work ethic and attention to detail; ability to handle and complete efficiently and effectively multiple tasks and assignments on tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytic, organizational, communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively handle sensitive and confidential situations with integrity, tact, and diplomacy
  • Appreciation of the importance of a collegial work environment
