 I.        POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Individual Giving

 II.       GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The ideal candidate for the Associate Director will bring passion for EMPath’s mission and for spreading our work to others. They will also bring experience and success in donor prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities, including donor communication/solicitation and donor cultivation events.

 IV.      ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  • Oversee all aspects of EMPath’s Individual Giving program, seeking to provide all individual donors with a quality experience and stronger ties to EMPath.

·        Draft and oversee production and mailing of all development communications, including annual appeals, invitations to events, thank you letters and introductory materials and updates in print and email.  

·         Develop specific mailings/email campaigns for planned giving, monthly giving, etc

  • Cultivate, steward and solicit a portfolio of mid-level donors ($500 to $5,000 annually), working with them to increase their giving.
  • Research major donor prospects and help CEO and VP with moves management.
  • Work with others in the IA department and in other departments to produce a variety of events (3-4 per year) that will provide donors with the opportunity to learn about and engage more deeply with the organization.
  • Supervise Senior Development Associate; oversee quality of data in Raiser’s Edge database, reports, mailing lists, etc.

 V.       KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in donor communications and stewardship.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management database (Raiser’s Edge or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative team player with a sense of humor

           

VI.      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • A minimum of two years of experience in non-profit fundraising, sales, marketing or related experience.
  • Experience with individual gifts, and especially major gifts.
  • A college degree, or equivalent experience, is required

 

VII.     PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Work is performed in an office environment.
