Active Minds seeks energetic, dedicated and responsible individuals to coordinate our traveling suicide awareness and prevention exhibit. The Send Silence Packing Tour Coordinators will report to the Send Silence Packing Manager. Together, the coordinators will manage all on-the-road aspects of the trip including transportation, display set-up/take-down, on-site volunteer management, campus host coordination, communicating with the Active Minds national office, and coordinating with our communications team to promote the tour via social media and other networking tools.

Responsibilities include:

●     Work directly with campus and community hosts to ensure a successful event

●     Engage directly with attendees at the events including initiating discussions about the display and proactively providing resources and materials to visitors

●     Manage volunteers to help with set-up, tear down and staffing the event

●     Manage the daily upkeep of the program backpacks and materials while on tour ensuring the integrity of the event is kept in mind at all times

●     Assist with public relations efforts, including speaking with media and distributing press materials

●     Contribute to the online presence of the program by posting images on social media and written content on the Active Minds blog

Nature of the Work and Qualifications – All candidates must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and the willingness and capability to drive a 16-foot truck for extended hours. The candidates must be able to engage in light to moderate lifting and be comfortable with manual labor. Because of the nature of the tour, the ideal candidate will be comfortable with a non-traditional work experience inclusive of long hours on the road, extended time and responsibility shared with 1 other co-coordinator, and the possibility of sharing a hotel room with another individual daily. Due to close proximity to other staff members, the COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Send Silence Packing displays are designed to amplify the student voice, improve knowledge and attitudes about mental health, connect people to resources and services, and prevent suicide. Additionally, for Active Minds Chapters, displays serve as a vehicle to promote existing work on campus and recruit membership. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and be prepared to engage in thoughtful dialogue with an open mind.

Outside of managing the displays, a bulk of the time will be spent driving a large truck to pre-determined colleges, universities and public spaces in cities across the Northeast, mid-West, and/or Southern regions.

Candidates will need to be available between September 7-November 15 to be considered.

Compensation –Coordinators are paid based on hours worked, with a potential for bonus compensation at the end of the tour, as well as an additional stipend to cover food and lodging expenses.

How to Apply – Send your resumé, cover letter (explaining your interest, experience, qualifications, and availability within the aforementioned timeframes), and three references—all combined within one PDF document—as soon as possible but no later than August 2, 2021 to sendsilencepacking@activeminds.org.
