About Harlem Academy

Harlem Academy drives equity of opportunity for promising students (grades 1-8), guiding them to thrive at the highest academic levels and one day make a mark on the world.

Founded in 2004, Harlem Academy is the only independent school in Manhattan serving promising, low-income students in grades 1-8. Over the past 17 years, Harlem Academy has developed a program that cultivates academic excellence and a deep commitment to community contribution. The school has been recognized as an innovative model, sharing best practices in major education journals with more than 300,000 readers, and its graduates attend many of the nation’s top schools.

Harlem Academy is completing the construction of its new campus this fall and will embark on an exciting phase of expansion over the next five years. The development associate will be a critical partner in ensuring the school has the resources needed to grow and strengthen its mission.
