The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) seeks an Operations & Membership Associate to support our growing organization and help us engage with tens of thousands of asylum seekers across the United States! This employee will be part of both ASAP’s Operations team and Membership & Organizing team.

About ASAP: ASAP sees a future where the United States welcomes individuals fleeing violence. We work alongside our members — thousands of asylum seekers — to make this vision a reality. ASAP is the largest organized membership organization of asylum seekers in the United States, with over 75,000 asylum seeker members from 140+ countries and living in all 50 states. New members apply to join ASAP each week.

Location: Remote workplace, location flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries from members who need help using and accessing ASAP’s tools and services.
  • Translate resources and public-facing content from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
  • Process membership applications.
  • Ensure that invoices, reimbursements, and credit card transactions are properly recorded and tracked.
  • Efficiently track and acknowledge donors and supporters.
  • Help keep operations and membership systems up-to-date.
  • Pitch in and support the ASAP team in other areas as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to ASAP’s mission and vision.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to change and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new software and systems.

Additional Helpful Qualities

  • Strong preference for applicants with experience as an immigrant or child of immigrants in the United States.
  • Relevant work experience, including in nonprofit operations, customer service, or professional translation.
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Additional language skills.
