CommonLit is a nonprofit edtech startup dedicated to providing high-quality literacy instruction to low-income students and students of color to prepare them for success in college and careers. We operate a free online reading program for grades 3-12, www.CommonLit.org, that is used by over 15 million teachers and students.
We are looking for an Elementary Curriculum Contractor who is excited to work for a fast-paced tech startup. The ideal candidate would need to be willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. In this role, the Elementary Curriculum Contractor will work with the curriculum team to develop lessons for CommonLit’s digital library. Lessons will be for students in grades 3-5 and will include recommended paired texts, related media, standards-aligned comprehension questions, and more. This person will also contribute to team-wide copyediting and data entry projects.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience as an elementary school reading and/or ELA teacher. The candidate should have a strong understanding of best practices in an elementary classroom, and have a demonstrated track-record of growing students’ reading and writing skills.
The candidate should also possess excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage work flows for multiple projects with diverse deadlines.
