STATEMENT OF JOB:

The Development Database and Analytics Manager is an integral member of The Huntington’s Development team and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining operational procedures for all fundraising activities and initiatives within the Tessitura database and in concert with the Finance department and other departments as necessary. The individual in this role will be adept at the Tessitura database and will serve as the Development department’s point person for tracking donations, generating lists, and reporting on progress against goals; and will utilize Tessitura Analytics to extract, analyze, synthesize, and turn accurately recorded data into actionable results and recommendations to support an annual goal of $5M+, a five-year campaign goal of $110M, and a growing legacy giving program. This role will require a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity, as well as a strong base of knowledge in the areas of database functionality, data hygiene, and analysis, fundraising protocols, non-profit best practices.

JOB DUTIES:

Tessitura Interface

-         Serve as the departmental expert in Tessitura and Tessitura Analytics functionality, stay up to date on new developments and skillfully share knowledge and train, other users

-         Proactively seek to expand Tessitura knowledge and understanding by utilizing the Tessitura network, user groups, conferences, and industry peers

-         Liaise with Tessitura Analytics Manager in the Marketing department for help desk support, implementations, and integration with other software platforms, and be an active participant in the internal Tessitura user group

-         Ensure Tessitura is being used to its full potential and lead the development and implementation of new procedures to ensure the most user-friendly functionality and output

Operational Leadership

-         Maintain or update existing procedures for high-level operations within the Development department, including but not limited to:

o  Financial reconciliation

o  Data standards and naming conventions

o  Creation and documentation of standard operation procedures

o  Training and onboarding

o  Configuration of Tessitura database

o  Record-keeping

-         Work with team members as a group and individually to train in the systems established to improve operational efficiencies

-         Provide training and retraining to all development team members to maximize the use of Tessitura and research databases

Data Entry, Acknowledgement and Record-Keeping

-         Conduct all gift entry and processing with consistency and strict attention to detail, including processing credit card charges, check entry, gifts of stock, wire transfers, and multi-year pledges

-         Oversee and/or conduct all other data entry with accuracy including creating new customer records and households, and updating contact information, research, relationships, etc.

-         Execute gift acknowledgment process to ensure that all donations are acknowledged in an accurate and timely manner

Reports and Lists

Collaborate with development staff and other departments to create standard and custom lists, extractions, and reports 

Regularly generate departmental status reports to measure progress against fundraising goals

Work with the development team to generate mailing lists and merge lists for direct mail and email appeals, as well as event invitation lists, invoices, and pledge reminders

Data Integrity and Hygiene

Adhere to development best practices and organizational procedures regarding the entry, maintenance, and storage of data 

Conduct all global changes and/or imports to maintain data

Reconcile with Finance Department as needed

Maintain and produce records required for annual audit

Data Analysis

Use Tessitura Analytics and WealthEngine to identify and communicate data-driven insights that help inform fundraising strategy

Develop dashboards to provide quick, accurate, up to date information for team members as well as executive and volunteer leadership

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience in Development operations or analytics
  • Proficiency in Tessitura and TNEW, or similar CRM database, is required; basic SQL experience for maintaining Tessitura custom reports and utilities preferred
  • Experience with prospect research tools such as WealthEngine preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, is required
  • Experience with data analysis and making data-driven decisions
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Creativity, curiosity, and strategic thinking
  • Proficiency at collaborating, communicating, and building relationships within the department and across other departments
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in the arts, and theatre, in particular, a plus
