Title: Senior Program Manager
Team: Young Adult (Leadership and Organizing)
Reports to: Director of Young Adult Initiatives
About the Role: The Senior Program Manager is a new role for NCLD. The Senior Program Manager will help expand the young adult programming here at NCLD, with a focus on building a brand new Disability Leaders Fellowship. The SPM will work closely with the Director to expand current YA programs, build a new fellowship program, and continue developing relationships with other youth-serving organizations in the field who can be key partners for NCLD.
Senior Program Manager Core Competencies:
- The position will require the ability to manage projects through a life cycle of development and implementation. Core knowledge should include project management skills, software for managing projects, and tools associated with project management.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for managing our Scholarship Program, Young Adult Leadership Council, and Disability Leaders Fellowship Program.
- The candidate will work directly with the Director of Young Adult Initiatives to manage all programming related to young adults, collaborate with the policy team on advocacy efforts, and work with the communications team on outreach, marketing, and social engagement.
Experience with Youth Development and Program Development
- The ideal candidate will have a background working with youth and/or young adults, ideally high school students up to young working professionals. The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of human development, coaching skills, and a facility with forming meaningful relationships with young adults from diverse backgrounds. Ideally, the candidate will also have experience going through structured diversity, equity and inclusion learning experiences and be able to support students with differing needs for accommodations and support.
- The ideal candidate will also have experience building curriculum and/or trainings for young people built around the core concepts of human development and learning theory
Experience Building Relationships with Partner Organizations
- The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the learning disabilities community and related organizations, and be able to develop relationships with organizations in pursuit of our mission to be a collaborative and inclusive partner.
Experience Developing Outreach and Recruitment Strategies to Reach Diverse Audiences
- The ideal candidate will have an understanding of where young adults are in the digital world, how to reach young adults who would benefit from NCLD programming, and how to engage them through strategic outreach. The candidate will be responsible for advising the director on recruitment and outreach plans, developing materials, and conducting information sessions and outreach events to engage young adults.
- Background in youth development, nonprofit management, curriculum development, or project management preferred
- Formal education and work experiences will contribute to the success of the person in this role. 3-5 years of professional and/or volunteer experience OR a certificate, credentials or a degree related to this work area is preferred. A degree in education, management, or a related field will be considered in place of work experience.
- Commitment to dismantling ableism, racism, and the other systemic barriers that hold back students
- Ability to be a strategic thinker, develop programs with agency and support and guidance from the Director of Young Adult Initiatives
- Facility with digital workplace tools, including Google Suite, Zoom, Outlook, and more. Ideally the candidate will know how to manage and transfer data between platforms, manipulate spreadsheets, word documents, and digital forms.
