Our flagship transitional work program-- Ready, Willing & Able-- integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

We are currently seeking a HR Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position will be working out of our 102nd East Harlem location. Reporting to the Talent Sourcing Manager, the HR Specialist is mainly responsible for support recruiting efforts.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with the ADP system, along with the Applicant Tracking System
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented
  • You are a self-starter, work well independently as well as on a team
  • You can communicate effectively with Managers at all levels of the organization
  • You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail/Documents, Mail chimp
  • You have the ability to multi-task
  • You are capable of working in a fast-paced environment 
  • You acquire basic knowledge of employment law, and HR practices
  • You are a team-player and willing to take on extra tasks in the HR Department
  • You are open to traveling as necessary to other company sites within the 5 boroughs.

  • Earned a Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
  • Processing all personnel action forms
  • Maintain personnel files up to date
  • Audit new hire paperwork and request missing documentation 
  • Prepare new hire orientation folders
  • Support recruitment efforts and coordination for all Doe Fund programs 
  • Support hiring process, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, and performing reference checks
  • \Post open positions and maintain job posting budget. As necessary, explore new websites for hard-to-fill positions
  • Manage Applicant Tracking System (ADP) ensuring that all changes with candidates are recorded properly and timely
  • Work with Hiring Managers, phone screen and schedule in-person interviews with appropriate candidates
  • Manage pre-employment testing process, conduct references and criminal background checks, Maintain spreadsheet of background checks, liaising with Accounts Payable and background check screening service (Verified Person) as necessary.
  • Assist the department with special projects as needed
