Director of Marketing and Community Development

Part Time, $20-$22


Bring your talents to The Village Chicago! Fun, part-time position, reporting to the CEO and working with the staff team on elevating the Village’s visibility by successful marketing of our major initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who works well in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment.


The Village Chicago is the city’s largest network of social activities and services for people over 50. We provide hundreds of opportunities for social connection through our online and in-person events, special educational programs, discussion groups, volunteer activities, work and purpose, and comprehensive health and wellness programming. Our members and the larger intergenerational Village community are committed to diversity and age inclusion which are vital to the culture and prosperity of the Chicagoland region.


Responsibilities

  • Working with the staff team and valued community partners, help plan, execute and leverage opportunities for visibility through several key initiatives, including a city-wide anti age bias campaign; health and wellness programs; memory loss family support; and other signature programs. 
  • Identify and manage collaborative relationships with organization, media, governmental agencies and influencers to extend the reach and impact of The Village Chicago.
  • Work with the team to develop, write, and produce digital and social content  appropriate for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram. etc. 
  • Develop and/or edit compelling written communications and presentations (e.g. fundraising materials, annual report, PR releases, letters to the editor, etc.). 
  • Format and distribute through Constant Contact our monthly newsletter, The Navigator.
  • Work with the Benefit Committee and staff team to establish venue, entertainment, auction and fund-raising strategies for the 2022 benefit - major event of the year.  
  • Work with the CEO to help identify new individual, corporate, and foundation donor prospects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Required


  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree a plus.
  • Highly effective, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in online marketing, social media and professional writing. 
  • Knowledge of advertising, PR campaigns, event promotion. Familiarity with Chicago, and local media contacts 
  • Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills to engage members and help manage relationships with donors and community partners. 
  • Must be proficient in a variety of written and graphic content types, such as newsletter articles, photo formats, emails, social media posts, website pages, brochure copy and other marketing collateral
  • Familiar with Constant Contact, Google Docs, Google Calendar, MS Office (Word, Excel), Zoom, Canva or PhotoShop. Familiarity with DonorPerfect, or similar programs is a big plus.
  • Must be flexible, enthusiastic, have initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented and committed to quality and excellence.
  • Experience with older adults is preferred. 
  • Event management is required.
