Do you enjoy understanding the inner workings of technology and helping maintain a robust and efficient system? Do you want to be challenged, learn a ton of skills, be on the cutting edge of economic justice work, get frustrated sometimes, inspired frequently, but be on the right side of history? Do you like to brainstorm? Do you like a good laugh?

Mission Asset Fund (MAF) is looking for a Junior System Administrator to join the MAF Lab, our Research & Development team. As the Junior System Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to use your thorough understanding of the inner workings of our technology to ensure the performance, data integrity, and security of our systems.

You will become the expert in the day-to-day workings of our Salesforce platform, learn all the technology systems MAF leverages, manage communication with stakeholders and collaborators, and in collaboration with our remote engineering team, ensure that our technology is in top condition for meeting performance expectations, and provide other tech support as needed.

This is the perfect role for a professional seeking to grow their technical skills in the context of working towards a critical mission. We expect this individual to learn quickly and take a big role on projects within the first few months. MAF intends to invest in the professional development of this position so that they can grow and develop, gaining increasing levels of responsibility and opportunity over time.

Our story: Mission Asset Fund is a groundbreaking nonprofit on a mission to create a fair financial marketplace for hardworking families. Our award-winning social loan models build pathways out of the financial shadows for low-income individuals across the U.S. A hybrid between a fintech startup and community-based nonprofit, MAF retains a highly skilled and motivated team that is committed to promoting economic prosperity and leveraging tech for under-resourced communities.

MAF has founded a Research and Development Lab to design and incubate new financial products that serve to improve the financial wellbeing of low-income families across the country. The MAF Lab is founded on human-centered design process where there is a continuous virtuous cycle: research, design, test, iterate, build, and more research. The MAF Lab operates out of its own R&D hub across the street from MAF HQ.

As MAF grows, we need a passionate Junior System Administrator who can work with our team to keep MAF on the cutting edge of technology. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants not just a job, but also an opportunity to build financial empowerment for low-income communities, and be part of a culture that is committed to social justice.

An awesome place to work: We’re right in the middle of Mission/Bernal Heights in San Francisco, it’s awesome here, with diverse restaurants, bars, and shops. We’ve got great team outings (movie nights, mini-golf, and bowling to name a few). And the staff is incredibly dedicated to the mission and fun to work with. Plus, you’ll get to hobnob with a certified MacArthur Genius and learn from him every day. (It also helps that we have the best snacks.) We have a super beautiful office setting, with lots of bright colors and natural light. As a nonprofit and tech startup, we attract people who like to jump in with both feet and who aren’t afraid of learning how to do better. With an open office environment, collaboration and teamwork are more than just values - they’re a way of life. Hailing from many different cultural and professional backgrounds that reflect the communities we work with, we are drawn together by a passion for embracing financial access, technology, and a bit of creativity to make the world a better place for hardworking families.
