Description

We’re searching for a Behavior Analyst who’s looking for something different!

Morningside Academy is a school that provides elementary and middle school age struggling learners the opportunity to catch up, build up, and get ahead. Extensive assessments and research-based methods with proven results are utilized in our unique program. Morningside students have not previously reached their potential; many have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or ADD/ADHD. All have average to above average intelligence. Morningside is not a school for children with significant emotional problems, behavioral problems, or developmental delays.

Position Summary:

Morningside Academy is creating a position for a Recreation Coordinator. The successful applicant will bring a positive reinforcement focused repertoire and spirit to develop, implement, and oversee recess, lunch, and leisure time programs. This includes training and coaching staff in addition to overseeing approximately 90 typical and near-typical children, aged 7-15 years old. This position will focus on constructing new social and leisure repertoires rather than reducing or decelerating behavior.

Ninety minutes per day will be dedicated to designing programs for recess, lunch, and leisure activities and routines that are structured, engaging, and reinforce social behavior. This will involve facilitating positive interactions between students, and training administrative support staff in the use of positive social and activity reinforcement strategies to successfully build positive social and interpersonal repertoires. The remainder of the day will be spent assisting the school psychologist with academic assessment and serving as a classroom teaching assistant.

Preferred Qualifications:

•   A sincere enjoyment of elementary and middle school aged children

•   Experience designing and implementing cooperative and collaborative learning approaches
