We are a network of eighteen schools educating nearly 7,000 students and employing 1,200 teachers, leaders, and staff members dedicated to our mission. As part of the KIPP network’s 255 schools, we share best practices and innovations with our peers across the city and country.

Our work is grounded in a commitment to excellence, equity, and justice. We believe all students have the right to rigorous, relevant, and joyful learning experiences led by exceptionally talented and diverse educators who promote student achievement and a sense of belonging. We pride ourselves on providing unparalleled professional development and leadership opportunities. We acknowledge the demands of the teaching profession and continually seek to improve sustainability, benefits, and supports for teachers. We are seeking teachers who are passionate about educational equity, driven by student and family relationships, and constantly seeking to grow.

Job Description

KIPP DC seeks energetic and dedicated specials teachers. Each school hopes to affirm students’ identities and build students’ talents outside of the core academic spaces. Below are examples of specials classes KIPP DC’s early childhood schools are seeking to offer:

  • Art: Art allows our youngest learners to express themselves while building fine motor skills. The art teacher will have a background in building an art program centered around affirming students' identities through multiple mediums.
  • Physical Education: Physical Education celebrates the connection between the mind and body, building students’ teamwork, social emotional, and cognitive skills through coordinated physical activity. The physical education teacher will have a strong grasp of physical education standards and create a positive, safe classroom environment for all students to learn.
  • Theater: Theater allows students to express themselves and amplify their voices. The theater teacher will partner with other fine arts teachers in music, dance, and art to build empowering and identity-affirming student programs.
  • Foreign Language: Learning a foreign language in early childhood is an opportunity for students to expand their language skills and knowledge of new cultures. The foreign language teacher will have a background in building early language with students ages 3-5. Schools have a strong preference for Spanish.

Although the above topics are most desired, teachers who have two or more years of teaching experience in an early childhood classroom setting and have a background in another fitness or fine arts category are encouraged to apply.
