Restitution Coordinator

Summary

The Restitution Program is responsible for the collection and disbursement of court-ordered restitution to crime victims for unreimbursed expenses related to the crime.

Essential Job Functions:

• Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. Coach and guide staff in their client practice that reflects these approaches.
• Conducts restitution intakes for criminal and supreme courts.
• Liaise with District Attorney’s Office, Department of Probation, and court personnel regarding restitution matters;
• Monitors daily cash receipts/disbursement transactions and processes in the restitution database;
• Informs the Director of Restitution of any potential issues and provides initial resolution;
• Prepares monthly statistics reports;
• Provides supervision to the processing assistant:
• Monitors accounts receivable, accounts payable and daily banking tasks
• Report any unusual collections or court documents to Restitution Director
• Provides guidance and training to as needed court partners;
• Resolves any discrepancies between restitution database and physical office file;
• Prepares defendant compliance reports and provides information as needed.
• Works with complainants throughout the restitution process including notification of restitution orders, payment distributions and appropriate referrals and resources
• Maintains department files and records
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Required skills:

• Detail oriented with analytical capabilities
• MS computer skills
• Math skills
• Planning, organizing and scheduling skills

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum two years supervisory experience preferred
• Minimum of two years AR/AP experience.
• Demonstrated communication skills and client service focus
• Comfortable interacting with defendants and victims.
