Description

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio (BHGH) is actively seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as our Academy Program’s Director of College Success. The Boys Hope Girls Hope Academy Program is an intensive out-of-school time program that delivers holistic, year-round opportunities and support for youth from 6th grade through college and ultimately, career launch.  The College Success Director would focus exclusively on Scholars from the summer before 11th grade through college and career launch.

BHGH, which is situated on a six-acre campus in Garfield Heights, helps academically capable and motivated children-in-need meet their full potential and become men and women for others by providing value-centered programs, family-like homes, opportunities and education from middle school through college.  While up to 20 young people reside in one of our three family-like homes, the large majority of Academy Scholars hail from homes and neighborhoods through Great Cleveland and Akron.

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Lead all aspects of the year-round Collegian Success Program serving 30-45 high-school Juniors/Seniors and 45-60 Scholars enrolled in College/Post-Secondary pre-professional pursuits.   Leadership includes managing staff, curriculum development, implementation and assessment of this unique long-term engagement with our Scholars and Collegians.

·        In collaboration with the Director of Hope Prep and a Curriculum Advisory Board, design and validate a continuum of programming and developmental opportunities that support the whole child [learning, social-emotional, leadership, service, independent living].

·        Recruit, hire, train, support and supervise professionals who serve as part-time/adjunct instructors of all College Success programs.  Maintain a high level of interaction with high-school instructors, volunteer mentors and collegian advisors through curriculum design, instructional coaching and observation. College Success Director will generally be present after-school/evening two evenings per week, one Saturday per month, and visit collegians at their respective schools as needed.

·        Coordinate and direct all aspects of the BHGH College Scholarship Program. Historically, collegians are awarded $3-5K annually to support their last-dollar needs. In 2017-18, more than $100,000 in Scholarship was awarded to BHGH Collegians from the Northeast Ohio affiliate.

This is an exciting time to join Boys Hope Girls Hope. The Academy Program at BHGH is in the midst of a five-year capacity-building initiative that has resulted in major growth of Scholars served (Currently 150 Scholars & Collegians with projected growth of 200+ by 2020). This growth includes a campus expansion highlighted by construction of a state-of-the-art Academy Center beginning in June, 2018.  The Rajan Academy Center will allow our organization to continue striving to provide innovative and diverse curricular programming experiences for our Scholars. The Director of College Success will play a critical role in this growth.

Qualified applicants will hold at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and have 5+ years relevant experience in college access, college counseling, higher-education admissions, project design, out-of-school time programs.  Prior management and supervisory experience is critical.
