Description

We are seeking a Program Director for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. Seventy-four units will be allocated for residents referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and forty-nine apartments will be for families referred by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).    


The Program Director will provide leadership and direction for both staff and residents. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication and management skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population, relevant New York City and State agencies and funding sources.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee day- to- day operations of the program including implementation of the fiscal, programmatic and administrative procedures
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the administrative, clinical, building maintenance, and residential services of the program 
  • Monitor program budget and contracts and ensure that proper documentation is provided for all expenses and accounts
  • Oversee the intake process and ensure the program is operating at full capacity at all times
  • Provide 24-hour on-call crisis intervention when needed
  • Provide trainings to staff on harm reduction, substance abuse and mental health
  • Ensure compliance with HASA contract and performance standards
  • Responsible for the completion of various reports as required by HASA
  • Provide supervision to clinical staff and ensure that staff is providing adequate supportive case management services to the residents
  • Conduct performance evaluations on all supervisees
  • Facilitate staff meetings, clinical meetings, and resident community meetings
  • Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and community organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a relevant field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working with people who are homeless, living with HIV/AIDS, have substance abuse histories and/or suffer from mental illness 
  • Strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents
  • Excellent clinical and case management skills
  • Sensitivity to community issues and needs
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality and personal integrity
  • Computer proficiency (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
