POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for leading the team of Peer Group Coordinators in planning and executing Peer Group activities for our three age groups to ensure the activities are engaging, fun, developmentally appropriate, and work towards meeting programmatic outcomes.


Performance Measures- The successful incumbent will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: Successfully supporting the Peer Group Coordinators, Peer Group attendance, Peer Group satisfaction, and youth’s exposure to new activities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversight responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning of Peer Group activities to ensure they are developmentally appropriate and engaging
  • Ensure all proposal agendas are submitted for approval to Program Director
  • Provide feedback on and approve Peer Group agendas and logistics for each group
  • Coordinate Peer Group behavior and attendance incentive plans
  • Maintain timely and accurate Peer Group records and documents 
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration between the Peer Group Coordinators
  • Step in to facilitate/lead a Peer Group activity in a Peer Group Coordinator’s absence, if applicable
  • Assist with planning of non-Peer Group activities as needed
  • Communicate any problems to the Program Director in a timely manner


Leader Responsibilities:

  • Serve as main contact for Peer Group related questions
  • Execute agenda to ensure smooth operation of all activities
  • Conduct assessment at the end of Peer Group sessions and compile data
  • Keep accurate records of all Peer Group activities and contact information in database. Log meeting minutes and SWOT analysis of Peer Group activities on database
  • Coach and supervise Peer Group Coordinators in reporting surveys and attendance on database and enforcing Peer Group rules and youth behavior management.


Other Duties:

  • Attend and participate in all department staff meetings
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Represent the programs department in agency fundraising activities
  • Assist Program Director to provide Peer Group data for grant writing and reporting purposes
  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION& RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum High School Diploma, some college preferred
  • Two or more years of working with youth, program design and management, and/or social work


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office; including Word, Outlook, Access and Excel                        
  • Strong organizational, planning, and facilitation skills                        
  • Ability to relate well in cross-cultural environments                          
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other program staff                 
  •  Ability to use time effectively, focus on details and adapt to shifting priorities                         
  • Ability to effectively assess relational support skills including guiding, supporting, confronting, advising, negotiating, and coaching                 
  • Ability to critically collect and analyze data, problem solve, and accurately document data and information in writing                         
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations                                   


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Routine off-site activities for Peer Group sessions 
  • Work hours and work location flexible to meet customer and agency needs
  • Must pass criminal, child protection, and sexual registry background checks including a health and TB screening
  • Access to a reliable vehicle preferred
