Description

Organizational Overview:

Morningside Center seeks experienced, resourceful educators strongly committed to social and emotional learning (SEL) and racial equity to join our team of per diem staff developers. Our staff developers help make schools more productive, caring, and equitable by providing ongoing school-based support for preK-12 educators, primarily in New York City.

Since our founding in 1982, Morningside Center has developed an array of programs to foster social and emotional skills in young people and adults, promote restorative practices rather than punitive approaches to discipline, and advance racial equity in our schools. We partner with the New York City Department of Education to bring these approaches to hundreds of schools each year through training in our curricula and on-site coaching for schools throughout New York City. We also partner with school districts beyond NYC. Two major scientific studies found that Morningside Center’s school-based programs improve students’ well-being and behavior, their academic performance, and the classroom climate.
