The Group Home Supervisor/Program Director position will report directly to the CEO. This position assumes a supervisory role and is responsible for ensuring a smooth milieu in the group home; while providing guidance, supervision and support to the DCS & Advocacy Coordinator staff. The G. H Supervisor’s focus will be to receive information regarding programming, emergency/crisis situations; troubleshoot staff & youth issues and provide recommended solutions for resolve. The G.H Supervisor will strictly adhere to all agency- related policies that guide the boundaries of employment performance and levels of intervention. The G.H Supervisor will make sure that all staff receive training, follow and enforce MYSI/ Departmental policies related to the staff and youth; and follow the guidelines of DCFS Rule 384 when re-directing, de-escalating or practicing intervention techniques with the youth in the program.

DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:

1. Provide oversite of milieu operations spearheaded by the DCS, mentor and offer feedback to the youth & staff. Sign off on the A.C case management work for compliance

2. Maintain a flexible schedule to ensure oversight of all shifts & day to day operations.

3. Oversee and follow-up with staff to ensure the completion of all required shift documentation and reports across all designated shifts. Not limited to current SACWIS Notes

4. Coordinate with the Agency’s IT/Facilities Manager to ensure resolution to computer and facility issues.

5. Counsel and work with the staff to make decisions regarding day-to-day facility matters (including scheduling break/lunch times)

6. Consult with and report to the CEO regularly to ensure a smooth milieu.

7. Provide monthly documented supervision to staff and forward to the Program Manager.

8. Facilitation of monthly staff and youth meetings.

9. Oversee and follow-up with staff to ensure maintenance of required Program Service Binders; i.e., life skills, fire drill, service requests, etc.

10. Maintain effective inter/intra program communication with staff, youth, their support systems, and service providers

11. Ensure staff provides the necessary documentation and feedback to the Quality Assurance Department to ensure continuous quality improvement of the agency

12. Attend hospital staffing, school staffing, and or any IDCFS/IDJJ meetings as directed.

13. Safeguard the rights, privacy and confidentiality of each youth and have a working knowledge of policies related to Client Rights and Prevention of Abuse and Neglect.

14. Regularly review Medication Logs and medical related documentation and processes

15. Work with the youth & staff to initiate in-house activities

16. Attend supervisory meetings, staff meetings and all required trainings

17. Uphold the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act

18. Perform other duties as assigned

19. Objectively evaluate staff annually per MYSI policy

JOB ESSENTIALS:

1. Experience with youth in a residential setting

2. Ability to stabilize youth coming into a residential milieu

3. Valid State of Illinois Driver License and proof of current auto insurance

4. Must have a reliable car during your scheduled work shift

5. Possess skills and temperament to function in a team setting and willingness to collaborate with other staff in achieving treatment objectives and program goals

6. Must be in good physical and emotional health

7. Must have the ability to build a mutual and respectful partnership with youth and their families to gain the skills and confidence to address any issues or problems they may encounter

8. Demonstrate a commitment to the operating philosophy of MYSI and the highest degree of honesty and integrity.

9. Have working knowledge and understanding of child development

10. Have the ability to recognize and verbally de-escalate and stabilize situations

11. Must have CWEL, CPR, First Aid and CPI training (a plus)

12. Must meet all of DCFS requirements, not limited to CWEL, background and transportation requirements

13. Must comply with Child Care Act CH23 part 2215.1 Section 5.1 (a)

14. Must be able to write clear, concise and thorough case notes, reports and other documentation as required to include good communication and computer skills

15. Some travel may be required in order to perform duties, that may include driving the agency van

16. Must be able to work with diverse cultures and individuals in lower socio-economic backgrounds

17. Position hours may include some evenings and weekends on-call hours

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years of direct experience working in a child welfare residential environment & Group Home or TLP Leadership Experience. '
