Founded in 1996, Rebound began serving children experiencing difficult circumstances who were at risk for social and academic failure. Over the years, Rebound grew in size, structure and programs, becoming an autonomous nonprofit social service organization in 2006.

Our mission at Rebound is to connect, empower, and restore vulnerable kids and families in Whatcom County. We are a faith-based organization that encourages servant leadership throughout our organization.

We believe every child and their family deserves to be loved and that every person can have their life changed through caring relationships, education, and community support. We accomplish this by building relationships, teaching social and emotional skills, connecting families with community help for physical needs and providing advocacy for families in crisis. We connect under-resourced families to healthy community by acting as a bridge between state agencies, communities of faith and local neighborhoods, creating places of belonging that nurture positive, sustained change.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Rebound is looking to grow in our capacity to care for the ever-growing number of vulnerable families in our community and to become more innovative, so that we may serve more effectively in a both a virtual and in person world.

We are looking for a skilled leader who can guide the overall administration of the organization’s finances, strategic planning, and vision, leading and equipping staff, public and community networking, and cultivating a close working relationship with the Board. They will be strategic, highly relational, inspirational, and innovative. They will be capable of coordinating staff and volunteers as well as external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a clear ability to establish staff and volunteer teams through personal care and support. In addition, they will have an urgent passion to serve vulnerable children and families.

The right candidate may come from a variety of backgrounds to include education, faith, small business, fundraising, counseling, corporate, nonprofit leadership. We value collaboration and adaptability and will support the Executive Director to be successful in their direction of this role.

SALARY & BENEFITS

  •    Starting pay between $60,000 to $70,000 DOE
  •    Health care allowance/benefits

SCOPE

The Executive Director is a leader responsible for overseeing all operations, providing day-to-day oversight of the organization and staff. They will report to the Board of Directors.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with the Board to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Assist with ongoing Board and governance development.
  • Communicate and coordinate actively with the Board; provide the information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
  • Assist Board President with planning and facilitating monthly meetings.

Leadership: Be committed to Servant Leadership, leading and managing with a spirit of humility and teachable while modeling a servant’s heart.

  • Create and promote a positive organization culture.
  • Provide decisive leadership that creates buy-in, team collaboration & cohesion and organizational accountability toward common goals.
  • Ensure that all decisions are examined through a racial equity lens and that all activities, programs, employment and volunteer opportunities are provide in a racially equitable manner.
  • Deliver recommendations for organizational goals to meet the Strategic Plan that enables long term stability and success.

Financial Performance & Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of Rebound.

  • Build a fundraising team that assists in grant writing, solicitation of donors, and the management of a diverse program of fund development.
  • Develops fundraising efforts in partnership with a fundraising team to oversee projects and events.

Communications & Stakeholder Relations:

  • Leverages contracted employees, as appropriate, to execute marketing and communications strategy.
  • Oversee staff and volunteers that refine all aspects of communications, including web presence, and the external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Committed Christian who embraces and exemplifies Christian principles and values
  • Mission driven: self-starter, adaptable, innovative approach to business planning.
  • Ability to lead others, foster teamwork, and relate well with others
  • Knowledge of nonprofit sectors and Board governance.
  • A demonstrated ability and commitment to valuing diversity and inclusion when recruiting and working with staff and volunteers
  • Competency and willingness in exploring and implementing new techniques and technologies for future growth and delivery of services.
  • Strong financial management skills; including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector preferred;
  • Ability to connect with resources in the grant giving and grant writing community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey strategic vision to staff, partners, volunteers, and donors.
  • Oversees Marketing and Public Relations.
  • Solid organizational abilities; including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
