About CLAOC

The CEO Leadership Alliance of Orange County (CLAOC) is a consortium of OC’s prominent public and private companies that work together to build a thriving OC for all. In order to achieve this vision, we believe that we must build OC into a premier, inclusive tech talent hub.  We leverage our ability to convene CEOs and employer talent leaders  and  connect with leading nonprofits, local education systems, and government.  This collaboration and design  ensures OC residents, particularly those who are underrepresented in the tech sector, are learning the necessary skills, supplemented with the appropriate work-based learning experiences, to make them job-ready in the OC economy.

Position overview

CLAOC is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) team member to help design and implement  a compelling communications narrative for CLAOC (claoc.org) and envisionOC.org, the county’s only platform focused on attraction of talent and businesses to the region.  This role is for an individual contributor who will help build out a roadmap for expanding the communications strategy and reports to the Senior Vice President overseeing strategic initiatives. 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of marketing and communications for CLAOC and envisionoc.org, bringing greater regional and national awareness to the mission, goals and accomplishments.
  • Lead brand voice/tone/messaging and communications development to advance our mission, grounded in inclusivity.
  • Develop and implement campaigns aligned to messages across a variety of relevant platforms. 
  • Oversee the development of all communications-related content, collateral, and platforms including press releases, op-eds, newsletters, multiple websites, social media, etc. Manage external vendors and freelances as needed, ensuring high quality, consistent and compelling messaging.
  • Develop and execute partnerships with media and communications leaders at member companies to widen reach of messaging and campaigns. 


Skills and experience

  • Passionate about purpose-driven storytelling to uplift a mission that impact individuals trajectories. 
  • 5-10 years of experience in building and implementing effective storytelling strategies, working with senior leadership. 
  • Ability to develop inclusive messaging that appeals to a wide variety of audiences including business leaders and emerging talent. 
  • Ability to both design high-level media and storytelling strategies and effectively implement tactics.
  • Ability to travel to Orange County, CA for meetings 3-4 times a month.
