The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the region's largest grantmaker and permanent charitable endowment, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Manager for Racial Equity. The Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire, support, inform, listen to and collaborate with the people and organizations in Greater New Haven to build an ever more connected, inclusive, equitable and philanthropic community.

In 2021, The Foundation launched Stepping Forward, a three-year supplemental funding commitment of $26 million to address the widespread immediate community needs caused by COVID-19 and to advance equity in Greater New Haven.


Title:                                    Manager for Racial Equity

Department:                    Human Resources and Organizational Culture

Reports to:                        Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Culture

FLSA Status:                      Non-Exempt


POSITION:

The Manager for Racial Equity is accountable for supporting all aspects of the Racial Equity work of TCF.  The work will run across all departments, initiatives, and projects. It is expected that of the Manager will uncover missteps, provide guidance on what could be opportunities and aggressively support new ways of doing business that furthers the expression of Racial Equity. This will require partnerships with all staff and volunteers as well as external partners and collaborators.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing support to the SVP for HR & Org Culture in the execution of Racial Equity mandates
  • Assisting in naming and uplifting Racial Equity standards within the work of The Foundation
  • Assisting in developing programs and presentations that assist internal learning and support external understanding of The Foundation’s intentions
  • Assisting with engaging every department of The Foundation in the work and comprehension of Racial Equity standards
  • Engaging diverse audiences and constituents
  • Serve on cross-departmental teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years related experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with challenging topics and content
  • Strong diplomatic skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional public speaking skills
  • Strong research capability
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office – specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Commitment to The Foundation’s mission and core values of integrity, diversity, vitality, collaboration, long-term vision, service, accountability and excellence
