Description

The Youth Engagement Coordinator (YEC) facilitates and coordinates a safe, supportive environment for Club children and teen members through the design and implementation of tailored individual member development plans for staff. The YEC will track, nurture, support, and inspire members through all programs in which they participate and more. The YEC will collect, analyze, and assess data collections on a regular basis. The YEC, in harmony with staff and in regular communication with parents and/or guardians, will execute and support the growth of each club member.


Responsibilities


Goals & Data

·        Engage in creating, planning, and executing short and long-term goals for members’ development plans that meet their ever changing needs

·        Collect and track data for the purpose of developing individual and custom strategies for kids’ growth

·        Manage multiple portfolios of designated club members to reach and exceed their goals 

 

Member Family Involvement

·        Build a liaison partnership with parents/guardians to address the specific learning and social needs of their child/children

·        Support and guide program staff with their outreach to parent(s)/guardian(s)

 

Social/Emotional

·        Maintain a fun and safe place for children and teens to develop a sense of pride, optimism, and belonging

·        Promote the development of social and emotional skills

·        Create an environment which frequently recognizes both the efforts and achievements of kids in meaningful public ways

·        Employ problem-solving skills when needed to redirect member behaviors

 

Staff Relationships

·        Engage with all staff in a collaborative manner

·        Develop and maintain a program that advances the relationships of staff to members, particularly with those who are in the greatest need for caring adults to be in their lives

·        Develop ways by which the staff will increase their relationships and engagement with members throughout their time spent at the Club

·        Coach interns, volunteers, and youth leaders so that they build an understanding of the importance of youth work, of following procedures, and acknowledgment of boundaries


Other

·        Facilitate some activity programs and/or help plan, launch, and

lead new program(s)

·        Attend and participate in all staff meetings

·        Interact with member management system and coordinate with staff to ensure membership, attendance, and program data are tracked, collected, and analyzed

·        Facilitate monthly/quarterly recruitment activities to increase Club visibility and enrollment

·        Other duties as needed


Qualifications and Experience

·        Completion of or in pursuit of an associate or four-year degree from an accredited college or university with emphases to child/youth development, psychology, education, social work, recreation, the arts, or related filed preferred or equivalent experience

·        A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club, youth organizations, or related agencies that improve the quality of life for young people  

·        Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and colleagues

·        Enthusiasm working with children and youth; comfortable maintaining clear boundaries and setting age appropriate limits with a variety of children, teens, and adults

·        Reliable, responsible, open to feed back, and committed to improvement

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds

·        Occasional lifting of 10 to 40 pounds

·        Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team

·        Ability to learn new tasks and/or systems

·        Reasoning and thinking skills and ability to problem solve

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management;

·        CPR and First Aid Certifications (or we will provide training for the right candidate)

·        Valid driver’s license

·        Minimum working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with or exposure to Adobe Suite programs

·        Exposure to or experience with membership software and tracking systems
