The Career Development Program Lead, reporting to the Career Development Manager, will provide essential support and leadership in delivering career services and programming offered to SRA’s students. They will play a leading role in liaising and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, advocating for students, and community building. They will also play a significant role in the department’s Internship Program, planning and execution of workshops, creation and maintenance of content and materials, and delivery of other cornerstone career development programming. This is an important early in career position with opportunities for growth within the position and team. 

SRA is a growing organization; candidates will need to be flexible and interested in assuming additional duties resulting from expansion.

SRA is currently working 100% remotely with opportunities to meet in person with adherence to SRA’s In-person Meeting policies. Candidates should live in the Bay Area or be willing to travel at their own expense for in-person meetings. SRA does not employ staff who live outside of the state of California.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation

  • Support Career Development Manager in planning, execution of career development programming, trainings, and creating resources based on learning needs for staff, Advisors and students
  • Lead production of monthly CD Newsletters for current Rising Star program participants 
  • Manage the Summer Leadership Program to build leadership, advocacy, and professional development skills for program participants
  • Lead in planning, coordinating and facilitating age-specific in-person and/or virtual workshops 
  • Collaborate with and assist Advisors in their work with students on career development related topics; review student internship application materials (such as resumes, cover letters and essays), provide training
  • Cross-collaboration with SRA’s departments as needed to achieve overall goals of organization
  • Provide key support for volunteer outreach, mentor programs, senior support and programming, and new CD content for the Hub 
  • Other duties as assigned

Internship Program & Community Engagement 

  • Lead planning and development of the Internship Program, including development and maintenance of relationships with SRA’s network for employers
  • Collaborate with the Internship Program Manager and Career Development Program Coordinator to achieve Internship Program goals and objectives
  • Lead in planning, coordinating and facilitating external student engagement events and opportunities including Career Insight Days and other one-off events 

Data Collection 

  • Organize, track, and compile information and data in Salesforce, Google Drive, etc.
  • Support with gathering and reporting monthly/annual metrics, perform data analysis and create reports as well as presentations for staff and external stakeholders as it relates to the Internship Program and Career Development Program 
  • Collaborate with the Data Committee to develop and administer annual surveys to collect and track outcomes to document the extent to which SRA is achieving its mission
  • Translate data into relatable stories that engage all stakeholders

Required Qualifications & Experience  

Background & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • 2-3 years relevant experience in career services, counseling, student personnel, human resources or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience facilitating workshops and preparing training materials
  • Experience creating, leading and maintaining programs preferred 
  • Experience working and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders in a nonprofit of education setting preferred 
  • Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, ability to produce written materials with speed and accuracy 
  • Proficient in creating and editing effective resumes, cover letters and other job application materials
  • Ability to provide guidance in various career development related topics such as interviewing, negotiation process, etc. 
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Salesforce
  • Excellent judgment and ability to coach students through difficult situations

  • Strong interpersonal skills and sense of humor
  • Self directed, highly organized and motivated; deadline driven 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; enjoy working remotely 
  • Access to reliable car
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed  
  • Must live in the SF Bay Area 
  • Commitment to a personal and professional exploration of power and privilege, including a willingness to self-reflect and experience discomfort in difficult and transformative conversations. Previous progress along this journey required.
